So where in the world have I been? School, work, traveling, sleeping; you name it, I did it. It’s been a chaotic few weeks being a part-time student, full-time worker, and everything in between. I am happy to say that I successfully survived my first AND last summer semester at THE Ohio State University! This now means that I have only TWO semesters left until I become the first college graduate from my family! These next few months are going to be an exciting time for me in my life and cannot wait to continue to share my journey with all of you!
Now to update everyone on what I have done the last couple months…
First things first, I SURVIVED LAS VEGAS! Talk about an amazing and incredible trip to California and Nevada! I had an absolute amazing time with my friend Charles and the best part was that I FINALLY visited Tori in her home state of California after years of promising to visit! Although I had a fantastic adventure to the West coast, I learned a few things,
1) In-N-Out Burger and Roscoe’s chicken and waffles are life changing.
2) Columbus, Ohio traffic is a joke. LA traffic is a real life nightmare. Never will I complain about our traffic again.
3) It’s HOT in California and Las Vegas. Like, REALLY hot.
4) West coast is the BEST coast! (I’m still a proud Columbus girl)
Las Vegas was an incredible place to visit and I am very thankful that I had such a great experience! I attended a performance by Macklemore, Khloe Kardashian’s birthday party, and Calvin Harris concert. I was exposed to what seemed like a million designer brand stores (I drooled everywhere) and enjoyed the variety of architecture and buildings the city had to offer!
As the month of July quickly came to an end, I had an unexpected visitor at work that led to a pretty awesome experience. I have mentioned in earlier posts about the non-profit organization I worked for, Nellie’s Catwalk for Kids. Over the years I have continued to be a proud supporter of the organization and the cause. This year NC4K was planning their Scarlet and Gray Fashion Show that would be hosted at the Ohio Union on The Ohio State University’s campus. Originally I had never planned to attend due to schedule conflicts, but thanks to an unexpected visitor I was invited to the fashion show!
I have to give a huge thank you to Barb Matta for making a random visit to Nordstrom Women’s Shoe Department. I was able to catch up with her and her two daughters who have been long time supporters and models of NC4K. I have had the pleasure to work with them in past fashion shows and it is always a pleasure to catch up with familiar faces. Luckily as we were catching up she asked if I was attending the fashion show this year and at the time I was not. She kindly extended an invitation and after double checking my schedule I agreed to attend! I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason and as I look back, I am very thankful that I ran into Barb and her daughters that day.
Attending the NC4K fashion show is always such a pleasure for me. It warms my heart to know that I was apart of the organization and helped it grow. The best part about the fashion show is reuniting with kids, parents, models, and guests whom I have had the pleasure to get to know over the last several years. It’s truly a joy to be able to watch these kids grow and win their battle against cancer. Attending the scarlet and gray fashion show was definitely an incredible experience. It was inspiring, heart warming, and an absolute blast! I was surround by those who inspire me and the true Buckeye spirit which included the marching band AND Brutus!
I want to congratulate Nellie and the entire NC4K staff for another incredible fashion show and cannot wait to see what next year has to offer!
So what’s coming next? I LEAVE FOR DISNEY WORLD IN EXACTLY ONE WEEK! It’s hard to believe that I was just sharing in my last blog that my mom surprised me with my trip to Disney World and I am already leaving in a week! There will definitely be an update on my amazing adventure to the most magical place!
I will soon start my second to last semester at Ohio State, which also means my schedule will become busier than it was the last couple months. This year I intend to find a better work life balance which includes working out, yoga, reading, and RELAXATION. I am extremely motivated to finish my last year at Ohio State with tremendous success before I venture out into the “real world”. I just cannot believe my last year is already here, but I cannot wait to continue to share all my amazing adventures, big or small.
I am not sure where my life is taking me. I am constantly asked “what are your plans after graduation?” and my answer is “I am not exactly sure”. I plan to take this year to really live and learn so that I can find exactly where I am meant to be in this great big world. It’s not always going to be an easy journey, but I am looking forward to the challenges that I have before me! Keep following along to see all the great things I plan to do the next few years!
