For of those of you who are reading this for the first time you may not know much about me. My name is Brooke and I am an ordinary college student at The Ohio State University. As a sophomore I am currently pursuing a Public Affairs and Marketing major with a specialization in non-profit management. I have set high goals for myself and I will do whatever it takes to reach them. I am the only child and have amazing parents that have provided me with a wonderful life. They have taught me the importance of responsibility and respect for myself and for others. I’ve learned over the years that everyone has a different story and life is not always easy. I have been fortunate enough to live a great life the last 19 years, I received a great education, and I have met many great people a long the way. I have had many different life experiences that have brought me to this moment in my life. Life is short and it is our duty to live life the fullest each and every day we’re alive. Life is a privilege denied to many and I have dedicated myself to helping others live a better life. Specifically kids who have cancer. I am the administrative assistant at a non-profit organization known as Nellie’s Catwalk for Kids. It was started by a girl who was 16 years old and wanted to make a difference by hosting an annual fashion show. Now six years later we just hosted our 6th annual fashion show and raised $193,000.00 and are making our plans to go national. My job is rewarding each and every day and I could not be more grateful for the opportunities I have been given. I have a girl named Erica to thank for leading me down the right path, but that story will be told later. This is just part of who I am and I hope to share more as I continue blogging.
The reason I write today is to kick off my new blog! A lot of great changes have been going on in my life lately and I figured it would be an easy start for my blog. Recently I have just embarked on a new adventure, I MOVED OUT! The photo you clicked on to read this post was a photo of my roommate, Kaitlyn and I at the campus Starbucks. Currently our cable and internet are not set up at our apartment so we have to utilize free wifi at various locations. We started our morning off at this very location as well and then walked around campus looking for our classes. For those of you who know how large Ohio State’s campus is will understand how sore our legs are so we decided to take a break at Starbucks before venturing home. Moving out was a big step in my life and my parents. Being the only child made it difficult on my parents to let go, but they are happy for me. I’m not too far from my childhood home either so they should be okay! Moving out is a whole new set of responsibilities, but I’m excited to start this new adventure with my roommates. I live with 3 other girls named Kaitlyn, Madie, and Kendall. We are all different in our own ways, but get along great! It will be fun to spend this next year with them and enjoy college life! I feel blessed to have the opportunity to move out and experience life as and adult. I have high expectations for this year and plan to live life every day!
This blog is to document my trials and tribulations, my good days and bad days, and to help inspire others to help make a difference in the lives of others. I intend to write daily or even a couple times a day. I look forward to sharing the stories I have and hope you enjoy them. I love feedback, comments, and questions so do not hesitate to reach out too me!
